Church of the Week & Mentoring Program We have been so blessed here at Life After Ministries with all the phone calls from ex-Mormons seeking help in their exodus process that it seems each week we are implementing a new idea or resource for those seeking a little guidance! One of the things that can be overwhelming for the Mormon when they decide to leave is what’s next, what do I do now? What kind of church, where is the church, what are the rules, etc. are just a few of the questions that go through the mind of an ex-Mormon. We’d like to be able to help them in their new life by providing a reliable and safe place for them to find truth and integrity. Ideally, we’d like to have at least two or three churches from each town throughout The list of questions and doubts are endless for those in Mormonism and those who are thinking about leaving. My name is Joe Miller. I am the Lead Elder for 1. We are not anti-Mormon, we are pro-Jesus. That means our focus is not on teaching about the false doctrines of Mormon faith, we are focused on teaching the truth of Jesus as revealed in the New Testament. 2. While we reject the Mormon gospel, we respect the individuals who are drawn to the Mormon value for family. We structure our weekly service so family can worship together. We structure our ministries so that parents remain the primary disciple-makers for their kids. Leaving your Mormon roots, does not mean leaving your love for family and at 3. He has been ministering to GracePoint (formerly Trinity Presbyterian) for 20 years. We praise God for this because he and his family are a huge blessing to all of us. Communion is administered the first Sunday of every month. We are a smaller, family oriented church and visitors will immediately feel at home. Average Sunday worship attendance is about 125. Every summer we run a VBS program which the past few years have been done in the manner of back yard Bible clubs to better reach our communities. All children's ministry workers are fingerprinted and background checked for the safety of our children. Members of GracePoint come from many communities including Our worship is led by a wonderful praise band, directed by Michael Vahle. We open with a traditional hymn accompanied by organ or piano, then sing a few praise songs from the heart. We truly make a joyful noise to the Lord! Another hymn is sung at the close of the service. Since losing our music director a few years ago, we've been without a choral choir. We have a wonderful bell choir that plays fairly often during offertory or for special occasions such as Easter or Christmas. We view ourselves as a fellowship and not a denomination, with each local church governing its own affairs locally. We have a very non-denominational attitude within our congregation, with our motto being; "THE BIBLE, THE WHOLE BIBLE AND NOTHING BUT THE BIBLE." We are a small but growing church located in S.W. Ohio in rural Pastor Sorrell and his wife Marti have ministered at GBCC since July of 2005 when he first came as interim pastor. The church has sustained steady growth since then and has added many ministries during that time. They have lived in the area since January of 1990 and served in various positions throughout their church lives. Marti's father was an ordained minister and her brother served in the pastorate for many years. Pastor Sorrell was saved in 1985 after 6.5 yrs. in Mormonism. During that time he filled many different positions within the LDS church including that of an ordained elder and full-time missionary.
